When do The Open Championship tickets go on sale?

The Open Championship has not announced its next on-sale date, and nor has anyone else: there is no date to give you yet. We check the official pages every night and this page changes the day one appears.

The official The Open Championship ticket page is the only place the date is ever announced first. Everything below is our reading of how booking there works.

How booking for The Open Championship works

Tickets are allocated by a ballot that opens the year before and closes months ahead of the championship. Members of The One Club, which is free to join, get access to the ballot and to a priority window, so joining costs nothing and is the only way in for most people. Practice-day tickets are cheaper and less contested than the championship days.
